A complex maxillofacial surgery for a child of only 54 days

Alberto Bianchi - director of the Maxillofacial Surgery Unit of the Policlinico S. Marco in Catania, directed the team that performed a delicate and complex surgery of mandibular elongation to a child of only 54 days.
The baby was born with a congenital malformation of the palate associated with a very small jaw, a combination that prevented him from breathing. The delicate surgery of mandibular lengthening required a great collaboration between the UOC of Maxillofacial Surgery, Pediatric Surgery and the Intensive Care Department.
