Advanced technology has enabled the maxillofacial reconstruction of the entire right side of a patient's face
Thanks to advanced technology, it was possible to carry out a challenging and complex maxillofacial reconstruction surgery, preserving both function and aesthetics. By using custom-made prosthetics, virtual surgery, augmented reality, and 3D printing, it was possible to reconstruct a large part of the face of a 56-year-old patient following the removal of a tumor that had compromised the entire right side of the face: jaw, orbit, nose, paranasal sinuses, and base of the skull. The patient was discharged 15 days after the surgery: no further therapies or interventions are planned, except for a targeted rehabilitation program that includes speech therapy exercises.
